Why do a lot of people find tattoos and piercings “creepy and weird”?

Even when someone doesn’t have all that many. I seriously want to know things from the other perspective so be as honest as possible

people are scared of what’s considered to be “not normal.” i personally think it’s fine. a lot of the time, people focus on negatives, so they probably focus on the negative aspects of tattoos and piercings–such as overdoing, and being untasteful in selections (example: http://www.weirdthings.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/tattoo.jpg ) however, we know that not ALL tattoos look like this.
